First day of Class is August 31!

Dear Parents,

First, let me thank you for your support and understanding as we responded to the unexpected intrusion of the virus in March. I hope to address some concerns and questions about how the school will reopen this fall. While we are in the business of educating and caring for young children, our priority is our student, family, and staff safety. Be assured; we have been working diligently on plans to reopen. Due to all the factors and information needed to plan as COVID-19 issues unfold, our policies will be flexible to accommodate the most current guidelines.

We are gathering input from the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education, and the CDC. Through this guidance, we plan to open the school as healthy as possible with new safety precautions in place such as daily health screening of staff and children, increased hand washing, increased frequency of cleaning of high touch areas, limited visitation in our buildings, and separation of class groups. Adults and children (who are able) over the age of two are requested to wear masks during the arrival check in.  Our arrival and departure times will be staggered by 10 minutes per class to keep our class/groups separate.

Expect a call the week of August 17 to schedule a family classroom visit appointment. The visits will be held the week of August 24.

A required adult only, parent orientation is scheduled on Thursday, August 27, at 6:30 pm.  Information about your child's school year, standards, and the requirements necessary due to COVID 19 will be covered. Our classes will begin a week early this year, starting on August 31. A calendar is posted on our school website- covenantcommunitypreschool.com.

A vital part of CCP is our commitment to doing various outreach projects each year to allow our students and staff to "give back" to our community.  We believe that it is essential to teach our students the value of giving themselves to help those in need.  We will continue to ask that our parents volunteer the obligatory five hours annually. This year with limited visitation in the school, parents will primarily invest their volunteer hours during fundraisers to raise funds for student scholarships. The biannual fall consignment sale is September 18 and 19. There will be volunteer opportunities beginning Tuesday, September 15 through Saturday, September 19. Please mark your calendars and plan to participate. You can find the link to sign up on our website covenantcommunitypreschool.com.

We will not have a school supply list this year—usually, the items on the supply list total of about $50.00. 
This year the school will purchase the needed items. Many items like the disinfectant wipes and exam gloves will be difficult to find in our local stores. 
Individual boxes will be prepared for each student with markers, crayons, glue sticks, scissors, and play-dough (enough "store-bought" play-dough for the entire school year will be supplied). The individual supply box cost approximately $30.00 per student. 
We expect tremendous amount of soap, paper towels, sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes will be needed to keep our school a safe environment. 
The possibility of hiring an extra pair of hands to help us with the added responsibilities of cleaning and assisting teachers is being explored. 
This year a $100.00 supply fee is required to help cover these costs due on September 1.

Our priority is to keep everyone safe while still offering the high-quality program expected, and not making life more difficult for our parents. Everyone must be understanding.
